Qualified Admissions Kansas students meeting the following requirements qualify for admissions to any of the six Kansas Regents universities: Achieve an ACT composite score or 21 or above -or- Rank in the top third of your high school's graduating class -or- Complete the Qualified Admissions curriculum with at least a 2.0 GPA Qualified Admissions Curriculum Note: 1 credit = 1 year or 2 semesters English - 4 credits (No Applied or Skills Courses) Science - 3 credits ( Biology, and Chemistry) (No Applied Courses) Math - 3 credits (Minimum of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II - all credits must be received in high school, no math credits from middle school will be accepted) Social Science - 3 credits (No Basic Classes) Computer Technology - 1 credit Physical Education - 1 credit Fine Arts - 1 credit Kansas Scholars Curriculum The Kansas Scholars Curriculum is the recommended curriculum by the MHS Counselor. Students completing this curriculum are recognized at the spring awards ceremony and may qualify as a Kansas Scholar. English - 4 credits (No Applied or Skills Courses) Math - 4 credits (Minimum or Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II; plus 1 credit of advanced math beyond Algebra II - all credits must be received in high school - no math credits from middle school will be accepted) Science - 3 credits (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Social Studies - 3 credits Foreign Language - 2 credits or one foreign language Computer Technology - 1 credit Physical Education - 1 credit Fine Arts - 1 credit Graduation Requirements 4 units of credit Language Arts -- Social Studies -- One must be World History, One must be American History, and one-half Government and one-half Economics 3 units of credit Math 3 units of credit Science (one credit physical science and one credit biological) 1 unit of credit Computer (one credit Computer Applications I) 1 unit of credit Physical Education/Health 1 unit of credit Fine Arts (Music, Art, Drama, Foreign Language) Personal Management or Personal Finance beginning with the class of 2010 7 units of credit Electives 24 units of credit Total Credits Credit One unit of credit is equal to one complete year of a course, two semesters. Grade Level Classification The following credits are required to be classified as Sophomore = 5, Junior = 11, and Senior = 17. Grade Point Average GPA is figured from the final semester grades from all classes taken during high school: A = 4.00, B = 3.00, C =2.00, D = 1.00Note: Most newer browsers don't need a print-friendly version of this article.
