American Legion Offers Scholarships

The following scholarships are available:
Music Committee Scholarship- Due Feb 15- This $1,00 scholarship is available to all Kansas high school seniors, college level freshmen or sophomore who have distinguished themselves in the field of music or who will major or minor in music in a junior college and university.
Shooting Sports Scholarship- must have participated in the Shooting sports competition.
Hobble LPN Nursing Scholarship- one-time $300 scholarship for those who have been accepted into an LPN program.
Eagle Scout Scholarship- due Mar. 1- National award of 10,000 or state award of $500/
Due July. 15-
Dr. Click Cowger Scholarship- $500 for any student who has participated in American Legion Baseball.
American Legion Baseball- 1,000 scholarship to any American Legion Baseball participant whose name has been filed with National Headquarters on Form #1.
Paul Flaherty Athletic Scholarship- $250 – any boy or girl who has participated in High school sports.
The following are more specific:
Must be son or daughter of a veteran; parent must have been a member o the Kansas American Legion a/or daughters of deceased members in either organization are eligible if the parent’s dues were paid up at the time of death. Applicant must be an average or better student scholastically, and must show a high school transcript with a grade point average.
These are due February 15:
Hugh A. Smith- $500
Ted and Nora Anderson- four $ 500 scholarships
Albert M. Lappin- $1,000
Charles W. and Annette Hill- GPA-3.0-4.0- outright grant of $1,000.
