Competency Profile

Prerequisite:          Intro to Agriculture and FFA and/or Instructor Permission

Credit:                    1

Grade:                     11

Communications and teamwork are emphasized throughout this course.  Participants will develop resumes, present group demonstrations; write news articles while discovering various career opportunities in Agriculture.  Supervised Agricultural Experiences are defined as student’s narrow career goals.

Students successfully completing this course will:

1.        Create a resume, refine interviewing skills, complete job applications and create cover letters for potential jobs.

2.        Explain the advantages and disadvantages of starting an entrepreneurship business.

3.        Develop a marketing plan for a business and look into advertising and sales.

4.        Practice agricultural communications skills by interviewing others, writings feature stories, and working with the news media.

5.        Study the meats industry while learning how to grade meat and identify retail cuts and wholesale cuts.
