Mrs. Frazee is Recognized For All She Does For The Community

by Madison Kracht

While you may HEAR her before you SEE her, Mrs. Gay Frazee is an energetic ball of fire that roams the halls of MHS.

Mrs. Frazee grew up in Summerfield Kansas and was raised with a  strong work ethic. When she was five years old she started her first job at her family grocery store. Everyday she would weigh and stack potatoes and made one cent per bag. Growing up she always had a job.In high school she played volleyball, basketball, track and softball. A memory she'll never forget is when her track team (consisting of 5 girls), beat their biggest rivalry, Centralia, (consisting of 40+ girls). In fact if you visited the Summerfield high school you would see that every record for the track team has at least one of these last names: Frerking, Kabriel and Frazee.

Growing up her parents always kept her very busy and very organized. During her junior and senior year of high school she was a teachers' aid for her home economics teacher, who also happened to be her coach, and always was caught rearranging, filing, and color coding her documents. Watching her teacher teach during class made her interested in Home Economics.

Frazee went to college at K-State to play volleyball. Her sophomore year her team made it to Nationals in Miami, Florida. She originally wanted to major in fashion management but realized marrying Doug meant she would live in Summerfield where there would be less opportunities for her with a fashion management degree. She graduated from K-State in 1982 with a masters in Secondary Education and Leadership.

Mrs. Frazee is a person who always puts others before herself. As the Home Economics teacher at Marysville, Mrs. Frazee spends a lot of her time putting together fundraiser's/projects. One project she started is the school milk machine that consists of healthy foods for students that would like a snack during the school day. She would like to thank Ms. Amy Renyer and her students for helping her out everyday. When asked what the biggest fundraiser/project she does is she replied with "Tackle Cancer" and "Santa's Closet". Two of the biggest fundraiser's she has sponsored was "Walk Around The World" for Travis Olmstead and "Cash for Cam" for Cameron Edwards.

When Mrs. Frazee is not spending time at school she's working for her Internet business that sells professional Kitchen Utensils; Home Decor; and Stationary Items, or her Summerfield Grocery store that she co-owns with seven other women. This year the grocery store is celebrating their 20th anniversary.

It's hard to imagine our school and community without the selfless acts of Mrs. Gay Frazee.
