Amy Renyer...Role Model to Many
by Haley Ward
Sabetha Blue Jay Native, Amy Renyer, has been a teacher for 16 years and is going on 3 years in Special Education. She was inspired to become a teacher by her middle school P.E. teacher because she knew she wanted a job where she could stay active. After high school, she went to Washburn and played 4 years of basketball and later on was inducted into the "Hall of Fame". Before coming to Marysville, she taught P.E. at an all-girls high school in Dallas, Texas for 10 years and while there she coached track and won 6 straight state titles. She is continuing her higher education and will receive her Master's Degree in the spring of 2012.
Amy was raised in a family of 12 brothers and sisters. She grew up on a farm and milked cows before school every day. One of her favorite things to do is spend time with her 39 nieces and nephews and the rest of her family. She also loves traveling, photography, and nature. One thing she would love to do is take photography classes.
Assistant Coach Deb Blumer says, “I have enjoyed coaching with her the last 4 years. She’s extremely hard working and is always prepared for her fundamentally driven practices. Amy is as demanding of herself as she is of her student athletes. Marysville is fortunate to have Coach Renyer as a strong role model for our young women.”
You could say that coaching is definitely one of Amy Renyer's passions. Her life goal is to be the best role model to students and let everyone know she cares about them.
