I enjoyed attending the last reunion which I think must have been in the fall of 1997. I still keep in touch with the Marples. I call them once in a while, but to a wider extent we communicate through email. Although they don't live that much in Marysville anymore (Greg does, and I guess Donna and Ron at least part time of the year), I do receive some news from Kansas. I know for sure that July 27 and 28 will be impossible for me this year. This summer we've planned for renting a house in southern France and bringing our kids and in-laws along; the house is rented from July 28. (I guess for me it would have been easier with a reunion in the spring or in the fall when nobody else wants to be off.)
Anyway, everything is fine here in Oslo. I'm still working as a consultant at the National Hospital in Oslo, I'm dealing with orthopedics, or rather hand- and microsurgery to be more specific. Karen (my wife) and I have three kids; Jon (27 and married) who just finished med.school and will start his internship in February, Mari (24 and married) who is studying to become a pastor, and Lars (21 and single) who is studying law. No grandkids!

I’m still Director of Brown Co. Developmental Services. 23 years and I still love my job. My husband Steve is still co-owner of Steve’s Tractor Repair and farms on the side. We moved to the country four years ago and love it. I spend a lot of time with my flowers, dogs, cats, cows and Greg. My youngest is 10 and going to middle school next year. He does basketball, soccer, flag football and baseball. I play tennis. My first 2 boys are 23 and 22. The 23 year old, Matthew, is STILL in school. He played basketball for 3 years and this slowed him down as far as getting his teaching degree. Jared, our middle boy, is employed full time as a John Deere mechanic and helps an old gentleman farm with intentions of taking over someday. He just bought an old Victorian farm house so I spend a lot of time working on it. No daughter-in-laws yet, nor grand kids. Hopefully someday, but they’re not in a hurry and that’s good, too. My folks are both gone, but we get to Marysville several times a year to see my step mom.

Kerrin and I have been married for 31 years. We have four children.
1) Carl Aaron (26) is a musician and research engineer at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.
2) Marian Ruth (23) got married last summer to David Skaggs and just completed her first year of teaching special education in Urbana, Illinois.
3) Paul David (16) will be a senior at CPU High School where he enjoys running long distance (cross country and track). He is in band, choir, and show choir.
4) Rachel Elizabeth (15) will be a sophomore at CPU High School where she is involved in volleyball, soccer, softball, choir, band and show choir.
Kerrin is in the process of completing her doctorate in ministry, as well as serving a rural congregation about 45 minutes from our home. She hope to become the Reverend Doctor Kerrin Kirkpatrick by this May.
I am still teaching high school special education in specific courses and co-teaching creative writing and poetry courses. I have been published three times in the past two years, and have begun performance poetry. I spend most of my spare time following kids’ activities, announcing softball games and wrestling tournaments, and working as a roadie for m y oldest son when he performs closer to Cedar Rapids.

After retiring in 2003, my husband and I sold our home in Topeka and RV’d to the west coast and then south. RV’ing wasn’t our cup of tea so we bought a home near the ocean in Port Aransas, TX. We enjoyed the beach for 2 ½ years and then decided to relocate to Oregon where temperatures and weather are moderate. Our home is now Oregon and since moving here, we have been remodeling the house doing the work ourselves. My hobbies are water aerobics and yoga. I taught water exercises when we lived in Topeka as well as swimming lessons. I also worked part time as a life guard. I enjoy yoga having learned to balance my head stand. I hope to join everyone at the next reunion at which time, we will be “settled” in Oregon. Our remodeling projects will be completed this year and so our “budget” should then return to normal. Dave owns and operates Smart Truck Line, Inc. I do some of his bookwork and I guess I am retired from nursing. We recently changed our summer fun from camping at Milford Lake to a lake house at Council Grove. We all love the water, skiing, swimming and even fishing. We still have one playing college basketball so we get to travel and follow some basketball still.
Our oldest, David, works for Wells Fargo Financial in Topeka. Ben and his wife, Keri, live in Frankfort and he drives a truck for us (the only one with trucks in his genes). Keri is a cosmetologist at Salon Essentials in Manhattan. Anna is done with volleyball at Washburn and has finally picked a major…elementary ed. She lives with Paul and 3 other basketball players in a house they rent from David. Paul is going to be a junior (business major) at Washburn so we just have 2 more years to support our kids in sports! No grandchildren yet but plenty of dogs.

I just got
back from a trip to San Diego! I wanted to go scuba diving for my
birthday on July 12th and that's what I did! Whee! I stayed with my
cousin and her family who dive as well. We also did some ocean
kayaking, went to the zoo and wild animal park. I had a wonderful
time! I have been a realtor here in Pueblo, Colorado for 12 years
now. I enjoy helping others with buying and selling real estate. My
intention is to help people in a way that supports them. For me a
good deal is where everyone benefits! I have a tortoise, Bacchus.
He is like a puppy dog! He follows me all around the house! I enjoy
photography, hiking and snow skiing. I leave August 2nd
for a 4 day river trip on the Gunnison River in western Colorado! I
am excited about this trip! Whee! I feel gratitude that I am good
health. This is the best time of my life! What more can I
say?

Mary Ellen is an assistant teacher at Marshall Co. Head Start. Children: Joe, 31, chemical engineer, KU grad, working as plant production supervisor for Abengoa Bioenergy’s new ethanol plant in Revenna, NE. He lives in Kearney. Scott, 30, has a Master’s in Agronomy from KSU, works as a corn researcher for Monsanto in Stromsburg, is married to Jessica, born & raised in Nebraska, a respiratory therapist. They live in York, NE. Jake, 28, KSU grad, grain merchandiser for Abengoa at the Colwich ethanol plant, is married to Ginell, KSU grad, who works at home doing insurance billing for a Manhattan dermatologist. They live in Wichita with their 2 children: Josh, 3, and Caitlin, 8 months. Lucas passed away in 2004 of cancer at the age of 19. Rachel, 21, works in Manhattan. We are a house divided but love to get together, especially at the Bruna pond. Joe loves to hunt when time allows. Mary enjoys photography and reading.
